„Jocul continuă” de Liz Tomforde a fost pentru mine încă o confirmare a faptului că această autoare știe să creeze povești romantice care te fac să zâmbești, să te emoționezi și să te atașezi de personaje de la primele pagini. De-a lungul timpului, Liz Tomforde a devenit una dintre autoarele mele preferate, iar seria aceasta este unul dintre motivele pentru care am ajuns să iubesc atât de mult genul sports romance. Cartea reușește să îmbine perfect romantismul, umorul și momentele emoționante, oferind o poveste care se citește cu mare ușurință și care te face să nu vrei să o lași din mână.
Povestea îi are în centrul atenției pe Kennedy Kay și Isaiah Rhodes, două personaje extrem de diferite, dar care împreună funcționează surprinzător de bine. Kennedy este medicul echipei Windy City Warriors și singura femeie din stafful acesteia. După ani în care a fost nevoită să suporte un șef care nu i-a apreciat adevărata valoare, ea își dorește mai mult decât orice să obțină postul la care visează și să își demonstreze competența profesională. Este ambițioasă, inteligentă și hotărâtă să nu lase nimic să îi distrugă reputația. Tocmai de aceea, situația în care se trezește după o noapte petrecută în Las Vegas este ultimul lucru de care avea nevoie.
După o seară pe care și-o amintește doar pe jumătate, Kennedy descoperă că poartă o verighetă pe deget și că este căsătorită cu Isaiah Rhodes, starul echipei de baseball. Dintr-o dată, planurile ei atent construite sunt date peste cap, iar ceea ce părea o simplă greșeală făcută la beție se transformă într-o situație mult mai complicată. Pentru a evita probleme care i-ar putea afecta cariera, cei doi decid să continue această căsătorie neașteptată pentru o perioadă limitată. Numai că, pe măsură ce petrec tot mai mult timp împreună, granița dintre prefăcătorie și sentimente reale începe să devină din ce în ce mai neclară.
Isaiah a fost unul dintre personajele mele preferate din întreaga serie. În spatele imaginii de sportiv celebru și mereu pus pe glume se ascunde un bărbat loial, atent și mult mai sensibil decât lasă să se vadă. De ani de zile este îndrăgostit de Kennedy și nu a renunțat niciodată la speranța că va reuși să îi câștige inima. Mi-a plăcut foarte mult felul în care încearcă să îi demonstreze că poate fi mai mult decât colegul care o tachinează constant. Este perseverent, protector și extrem de adorabil în multe momente, iar relația lui cu Kennedy evoluează într-un mod natural și convingător.
Unul dintre aspectele care mi-au plăcut cel mai mult a fost felul în care autoarea și-a construit personajele. Atât Kennedy, cât și Isaiah au defecte, temeri și nesiguranțe care îi fac să pară reali. Nu sunt perfecți și tocmai acest lucru îi face atât de ușor de îndrăgit. Fiecare dintre ei poartă propriile răni și propriile frustrări, iar pe parcursul poveștii sunt nevoiți să învețe să fie vulnerabili și să aibă încredere unul în celălalt. Mi-a plăcut mult că relația lor nu se bazează doar pe atracție, ci și pe susținere, respect și dezvoltare personală.
Chimia dintre cei doi este prezentă încă de la început și reprezintă unul dintre punctele forte ale romanului. Dialogurile sunt pline de energie, replicile amuzante vin natural, iar tensiunea romantică este construită foarte bine. Mi-a fost imposibil să nu zâmbesc la interacțiunile lor și să nu mă implic emoțional în povestea lor. Relația lor trece prin multe momente amuzante, stânjenitoare și emoționante, ceea ce face ca evoluția sentimentelor să fie și mai satisfăcătoare.
Am apreciat foarte mult și stilul de scriere al lui Liz Tomforde. Autoarea reușește să alterneze momentele amuzante cu cele serioase într-un mod echilibrat, fără ca povestea să își piardă ritmul. Sunt scene care te fac să râzi cu voce tare și altele care te emoționează profund, iar această combinație oferă romanului multă autenticitate și farmec.
Un alt detaliu care mi-a adus multă bucurie a fost reîntâlnirea cu personajele din volumele anterioare. Mi-a plăcut enorm să îi revăd, să aflu ce mai fac și să observ cum legăturile dintre ei rămân la fel de puternice. Aparițiile lor au adăugat un plus de căldură poveștii și m-au făcut să mă simt din nou parte din această lume pe care am ajuns să o îndrăgesc atât de mult.
Per total, „Jocul continuă” este o poveste romantică plină de emoție, umor și personaje memorabile. Este genul de carte care te face să te atașezi de eroi, să trăiești alături de ei fiecare moment și să închizi ultima pagină cu un zâmbet pe buze. Pentru mine a fost o lectură care a confirmat încă o dată talentul lui Liz Tomforde de a crea povești de dragoste captivante și personaje care rămân mult timp în mintea cititorului, motiv pentru care această carte merită fără îndoială cinci stele.

„Play Along” by Liz Tomforde was yet another confirmation for me that this author knows exactly how to create romance stories that make you smile, tug at your heartstrings, and grow attached to the characters from the very first pages. Over time, Liz Tomforde has become one of my favorite authors, and this series is one of the reasons I’ve come to love the sports romance genre so much. The book perfectly blends romance, humor, and emotional moments, delivering a story that is incredibly easy to read and impossible to put down.
At the heart of the story are Kennedy Kay and Isaiah Rhodes, two very different characters who somehow work surprisingly well together. Kennedy is the team physician for the Windy City Warriors and the only woman on the staff. After years of dealing with a boss who never truly appreciated her worth, she is determined to earn the position she has always dreamed of and prove her professional capabilities. She is ambitious, intelligent, and determined not to let anything damage her reputation. That is exactly why the situation she finds herself in after a night in Las Vegas is the last thing she needed.
After an evening she can only partially remember, Kennedy discovers a wedding ring on her finger—and realizes she is married to Isaiah Rhodes, the baseball team’s star player. Suddenly, all of her carefully made plans are thrown into chaos, and what initially seemed like a drunken mistake quickly becomes far more complicated. To avoid problems that could jeopardize her career, the two decide to maintain their unexpected marriage for a limited period of time. However, the more time they spend together, the more blurred the line between pretending and genuine feelings becomes.
Isaiah was one of my favorite characters in the entire series. Beneath the image of a famous athlete who is always joking around lies a loyal, thoughtful man who is far more sensitive than he appears. He has been in love with Kennedy for years and has never given up hope that he might eventually win her heart. I loved the way he tries to show her that he can be more than just the coworker who constantly teases her. He is persistent, protective, and incredibly adorable in many moments, and his relationship with Kennedy develops in a natural and convincing way.
One of the aspects I appreciated most was the way the author crafted her characters. Both Kennedy and Isaiah have flaws, fears, and insecurities that make them feel real. They are far from perfect, and that is precisely what makes them so easy to love. Each of them carries their own wounds and frustrations, and throughout the story they are forced to learn how to be vulnerable and trust one another. I especially enjoyed that their relationship is built not only on attraction but also on support, respect, and personal growth.
The chemistry between them is present from the very beginning and is one of the novel’s greatest strengths. Their conversations are full of energy, the witty banter feels effortless, and the romantic tension is developed beautifully. It was impossible not to smile during their interactions or become emotionally invested in their story. Their relationship goes through plenty of funny, awkward, and heartfelt moments, making the evolution of their feelings even more rewarding.
I also greatly appreciated Liz Tomforde’s writing style. She manages to balance humorous scenes with more serious moments without ever disrupting the pacing of the story. Some scenes will make you laugh out loud, while others are deeply emotional, and this combination gives the novel a great deal of authenticity and charm.
Another detail that brought me a lot of joy was reconnecting with characters from the previous books. I loved seeing them again, finding out what they had been up to, and watching how their bonds remained just as strong as ever. Their appearances added warmth to the story and made me feel like I was once again part of a world I have grown incredibly fond of.
Overall, „Play Along” is a romantic story filled with emotion, humor, and memorable characters. It is the kind of book that makes you become attached to its heroes, experience every moment alongside them, and close the final page with a smile on your face. For me, it was a reading experience that once again confirmed Liz Tomforde’s talent for creating captivating love stories and unforgettable characters that stay with readers long after they finish the book, which is why this novel undoubtedly deserves five stars.
