„Mireasa înlocuită” de Catharina Maura este primul volum din seria „The Windsors”, o serie foarte populară în comunitatea BookTok, iar după ce am terminat această carte pot spune că înțeleg de ce a atras atât de mulți cititori. Am început lectura cu destul de multă curiozitate, fiind atrasă de premisa neobișnuită: o mireasă care dispare chiar în ziua nunții, iar sora ei este nevoită să îi ia locul la altar. Este genul de idee care te face să vrei să afli imediat cum vor evolua lucrurile și ce se ascunde în spatele unei situații atât de complicate.
Povestea o urmărește pe Raven, o tânără care și-a petrecut ani întregi punându-i pe ceilalți pe primul loc și ignorând propriile dorințe. Când sora ei dispare în ziua nunții cu Ares Windsor, unul dintre cei mai influenți și bogați oameni din lume, Raven acceptă să îi ia locul. Însă situația este cu atât mai dureroasă cu cât Ares este bărbatul pe care ea l-a iubit în secret de foarte mult timp. Problema este că el părea să o vadă întotdeauna doar pe sora ei, iar Raven ajunge prinsă într-o căsnicie care îi oferă tot ce și-a dorit cândva, dar în condițiile cele mai dificile.
Unul dintre lucrurile care mi-au plăcut cel mai mult la această carte a fost chiar Raven. Este un personaj extrem de ușor de îndrăgit, tocmai pentru că este bună, loială și mereu dispusă să facă sacrificii pentru cei din jur. De multe ori mi s-a rupt inima pentru ea, deoarece avea impresia că trebuie să se mulțumească mereu cu mai puțin și că fericirea altora este mai importantă decât propria fericire. Evoluția ei pe parcursul romanului este una dintre cele mai frumoase părți ale poveștii. Mi-a plăcut să văd cum începe, treptat, să își găsească vocea și să înțeleagă că merită să fie pusă pe primul loc.
Ares Windsor mi s-a părut un personaj interesant și mai complex decât părea la început. Deși este un miliardar puternic și rezervat, există multe momente în care își arată latura protectoare și atentă. Relația dintre el și Raven pornește dintr-un loc dificil, plin de neînțelegeri și sentimente nerostite, însă tocmai acest lucru face ca evoluția lor să fie atât de captivantă. Mi-a plăcut foarte mult chimia dintre ei și felul în care autoarea a construit relația pas cu pas. Micile gesturi, conversațiile și momentele de vulnerabilitate au făcut ca povestea lor să pară autentică și emoționantă.
În același timp, nu pot să nu menționez familia lui Raven, care mi-a provocat destul de multă frustrare pe parcursul lecturii. Atât sora ei, cât și mama sa au fost personaje care m-au enervat de multe ori prin comportamentul lor egoist și prin modul în care au tratat-o pe Raven. Aceste conflicte familiale adaugă însă și mai multă tensiune poveștii și explică multe dintre insecuritățile pe care protagonista le poartă cu ea.
Un alt aspect care mi-a plăcut a fost faptul că romanul este concentrat în principal pe relația dintre Raven și Ares. Accentul cade pe dezvoltarea sentimentelor lor, pe încredere și pe modul în care învață să comunice unul cu celălalt. Am apreciat că multe dintre problemele dintre ei nu sunt prelungite artificial și că personajele încearcă să își exprime sentimentele și temerile. Dialogurile sunt naturale și au întotdeauna un scop, contribuind la dezvoltarea relației și a personajelor.
Recunosc că această carte mi-a plăcut mai mult decât mă așteptam. Am fost atrasă inițial de premisa intrigantă, însă am rămas pentru personaje și pentru povestea lor. Acțiunea curge într-un ritm plăcut, fără momente care să pară forțate, iar fiecare capitol aduce suficiente emoții și răsturnări de situație încât să îți dorești să continui lectura. M-am trezit de multe ori spunând că voi mai citi doar un capitol, doar pentru a continua încă unul și încă unul.
Per total, „Mireasa înlocuită” a fost o lectură romantică și emoționantă, cu personaje bine construite și o relație care evoluează frumos de la prietenie și obligație la iubire adevărată. Deși au existat câteva aspecte care nu m-au convins pe deplin, am petrecut un timp foarte plăcut alături de Raven și Ares, iar finalul mi-a lăsat un zâmbet pe buze. Cu siguranță este o carte care m-a făcut curioasă să descopăr și alte povești scrise de Catharina Maura.

After finishing this novel, I can understand why it has attracted so many readers. I started it with a lot of curiosity, drawn in by its unusual premise: a bride disappears on her wedding day, and her sister is forced to take her place at the altar. It’s the kind of concept that immediately makes you want to find out how everything will unfold and what lies behind such a complicated situation.
The story follows Raven, a young woman who has spent years putting everyone else first while ignoring her own desires. When her sister disappears on the day of her wedding to Ares Windsor, one of the most influential and wealthy men in the world, Raven agrees to take her place. The situation is even more painful because Ares is the man she has secretly loved for a very long time. The problem is that he always seemed to see only her sister, and Raven finds herself trapped in a marriage that gives her everything she once wanted, but under the most difficult circumstances.
One of the things I loved most about this book was Raven herself. She is an incredibly easy character to root for because she is kind, loyal, and always willing to sacrifice for the people around her. There were many moments when my heart broke for her because she believed she had to settle for less and that other people’s happiness mattered more than her own. Her growth throughout the novel is one of the most beautiful aspects of the story. I enjoyed watching her gradually find her voice and realize that she deserves to be put first.
Ares Windsor was an interesting character and far more complex than he initially appeared. Although he is a powerful and reserved billionaire, there are many moments when he reveals a protective and caring side. His relationship with Raven begins in a difficult place, full of misunderstandings and unspoken feelings, but that is exactly what makes their journey so compelling. I especially enjoyed their chemistry and the way the author developed their relationship step by step. The small gestures, conversations, and moments of vulnerability made their story feel genuine and emotional.
At the same time, I can’t help mentioning Raven’s family, who caused me quite a bit of frustration throughout the book. Both her sister and her mother often annoyed me with their selfish behavior and the way they treated Raven. However, these family conflicts add even more tension to the story and help explain many of the insecurities the protagonist carries with her.
Another aspect I appreciated was the fact that the novel focuses primarily on Raven and Ares’s relationship. The emphasis is placed on the development of their feelings, trust, and the way they learn to communicate with one another. I liked that many of the conflicts between them are not artificially dragged out and that the characters actively try to express their emotions and fears. The dialogue feels natural and always serves a purpose, contributing to both the relationship and character development.
I have to admit that I enjoyed this book more than I expected. I was initially drawn in by the intriguing premise, but I stayed for the characters and their story. The plot moves at a pleasant pace without feeling forced, and each chapter delivers enough emotion and twists to keep you turning the pages. I often found myself saying I would read just one more chapter, only to continue with another and then another.
Overall, „The Wrong Bride” was a romantic and emotional read with well-developed characters and a relationship that evolves beautifully from friendship and obligation into true love. Although there were a few aspects that did not completely convince me, I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Raven and Ares, and the ending left me with a smile on my face. It is definitely a book that made me curious to discover more stories written by Catharina Maura.
