„Prinși în vâltoare” de Liz Tomforde a fost pentru mine genul acela de carte care te face să uiți complet de timp și să trăiești fiecare moment alături de personaje. Am intrat foarte repede în poveste și m-am atașat enorm de Kai, Miller și micul Max, iar pe măsură ce paginile treceau, simțeam tot mai mult că fac parte din viața lor. Este o poveste caldă, romantică și emoționantă, dar și foarte realistă, despre familie, vindecare, iubire și frica de a te atașa de cineva atunci când știi că totul ar putea fi temporar.
Kai Rhodes mi s-a părut unul dintre cele mai bine construite personaje masculine pe care le-am întâlnit în ultima perioadă. Este aruncător titular în echipa de baseball din Chicago și, din exterior, pare omul care are totul sub control. Dar în spatele imaginii de sportiv celebru se ascunde un tată singur, obosit și copleșit de responsabilități, care încearcă să facă tot ce poate pentru fiul lui. Mi-a plăcut foarte mult faptul că autoarea nu l-a făcut perfect. Kai are frustrări, nesiguranțe și multe momente în care se teme că nu este suficient de bun ca tată. Refuză să accepte ajutor și ajunge să concedieze toate bonele pe care le angajează, până când antrenorul său îi impune o soluție la care nu se poate opune: propria lui fiică, Miller.
Miller Montgomery a adus o energie complet diferită în poveste și am adorat contrastul dintre ea și Kai. Ea este spontană, luminoasă, sociabilă și genul de persoană care încearcă mereu să vadă partea frumoasă a vieții. După ce câștigă un premiu important ca chef cofetar, Miller ajunge în Chicago hotărâtă să demonstreze că succesul ei nu a fost o întâmplare. Totuși, ajunge să-și petreacă vara având grijă de fiul lui Kai, iar relația dintre ei începe să se dezvolte într-un mod natural și extrem de frumos. Mi-a plăcut că și ea are propriile temeri și propriile bariere emoționale. Deși pare foarte sigură pe ea, Miller fuge constant de ideea de stabilitate și se teme să nu rămână „prinsă” într-un singur loc sau într-o viață care să o facă să renunțe la libertatea ei.
Unul dintre lucrurile care m-au cucerit cel mai mult a fost felul în care relația dintre Kai și Miller evoluează lent, firesc și credibil. Nu există dramatism exagerat, ci momente mici care îi apropie treptat: seri liniștite, glume, gesturi simple și scene de familie care au făcut povestea să pară atât de autentică. Chimia dintre ei este incredibilă, iar dialogurile au fost naturale și pline de emoție. Am dat paginile cu nerăbdare doar ca să văd cum se schimbă relația lor și cum ajung să lase garda jos unul în fața celuilalt. Iar Max a fost pur și simplu adorabil și a adus multă sensibilitate întregii povești.
Stilul lui Liz Tomforde m-a prins încă de la primele capitole. Scrie într-un mod foarte fluent și captivant, iar emoțiile personajelor sunt transmise atât de bine încât ajungi să simți totul alături de ele: bucuria, teama, nesiguranța, dorința de a iubi și frica de a pierde. Mi-a plăcut enorm că personajele au fost construite atât de realist. Fiecare are propriile obiective, propriile defecte și propriile răni emoționale, ceea ce le face foarte ușor de înțeles și de îndrăgit.
Pentru mine, „Prinși în vâltoare” a fost mai mult decât o simplă poveste romance. A fost o carte despre oameni care încearcă să învețe din nou ce înseamnă să aibă încredere, să se simtă acasă lângă cineva și să accepte că iubirea poate apărea exact atunci când te aștepți mai puțin. Este, fără îndoială, unul dintre volumele mele preferate din serie și o poveste care mi-a rămas în suflet mult după ce am terminat ultima pagină.
Caught Up – Liz Tomforde (Windy City, #3)
„Caught Up” by Liz Tomforde was the kind of book that made me completely lose track of time and live every moment alongside the characters. I got pulled into the story very quickly and became deeply attached to Kai, Miller, and little Max, and as the pages went by, it felt more and more like I was part of their lives. It’s a warm, romantic, and emotional story, but also a very realistic one, about family, healing, love, and the fear of getting attached to someone when you know everything could be temporary.
Kai Rhodes felt like one of the best-written male characters I’ve come across in a long time. He’s the starting pitcher for Chicago’s baseball team and, from the outside, seems like the kind of man who has everything under control. But behind the image of a famous athlete is a tired and overwhelmed single father trying to do everything he can for his son. I really loved that the author didn’t make him perfect. Kai has frustrations, insecurities, and many moments where he fears he isn’t a good enough father. He refuses to accept help and ends up firing every nanny he hires, until his coach forces a solution on him that he can’t refuse: his own daughter, Miller.
Miller Montgomery brought a completely different energy to the story, and I adored the contrast between her and Kai. She’s spontaneous, bright, sociable, and the kind of person who always tries to see the beauty in life. After winning an important award as a pastry chef, Miller arrives in Chicago determined to prove that her success wasn’t just luck. However, she ends up spending the summer taking care of Kai’s son, and their relationship begins to develop in a natural and incredibly beautiful way. I loved that she also has her own fears and emotional walls. Even though she seems very confident, Miller constantly runs from the idea of stability and is afraid of becoming “stuck” in one place or in a life that would force her to give up her freedom.
One of the things that won me over the most was the way Kai and Miller’s relationship develops slowly, naturally, and believably. There’s no exaggerated drama, just small moments that gradually bring them closer together: quiet evenings, jokes, simple gestures, and family scenes that made the story feel so authentic. Their chemistry is incredible, and the dialogue felt natural and full of emotion. I kept turning the pages eagerly just to see how their relationship would change and how they would slowly let their guard down around each other. And Max was simply adorable and brought so much tenderness to the entire story.
Liz Tomforde’s writing hooked me from the very first chapters. She writes in such a fluid and captivating way, and the characters’ emotions are conveyed so well that you end up feeling everything alongside them: the joy, the fear, the insecurity, the desire to love, and the fear of loss. I especially loved how realistically the characters were written. Each of them has their own goals, flaws, and emotional wounds, which makes them incredibly easy to understand and grow attached to.
For me, „Caught Up” was more than just a romance story. It was a book about people trying to relearn what it means to trust, to feel at home with someone, and to accept that love can appear exactly when you least expect it. It is, without a doubt, one of my favorite books in the series and a story that stayed with me long after I turned the last page.
