Am citit recent cartea „Joc mortal” de Michael Caine și am decis să împărtășesc câteva gânduri despre această experiență literară. Deși nu pot spune că m-a impresionat în totalitate, a fost totuși o lectură interesantă, merită trei stele.
Povestea începe într-un mod intrigant, când, într-o groapă de gunoi din estul Londrei, este găsită o cutie cu material radioactiv. Cu toate acestea, înainte ca poliția să poată interveni, cutia dispare în mod misterios. Acest început plin de suspans m-a ținut cu sufletul la gură, fiind nerăbdătoare să aflu cum va evolua situația.

Cu toate imperfecțiunile sale, povestea reușește să te captiveze și să te țină implicat până la ultima pagină. This suspenseful beginning kept me on the edge of my seat, eager to see how the situation would unfold.
With security agencies worldwide on high alert, Detective Harry Taylor and his team take on the difficult task of finding the missing briefcase. Caine manages to create a tense and mysterious atmosphere, following Harry and his colleagues as they face various challenges and dangers. I like the way the author builds the story, gradually revealing essential details and keeping the reader in suspense.
The characters are well-developed, each with their own motivations and secrets. However, I felt that some of them could have been developed more deeply. For example, the protagonist, Harry Taylor, while charismatic and ingenious, sometimes seemed too perfect to be believable. I would have liked to see more layers and inner conflicts to make him more human and credible.
Another aspect that caught my attention is the author’s writing style. Caine uses simple and direct language, making the book easy to read. However, in certain passages, I felt that the descriptions were too brief, leaving room for more depth and details that could have enriched the reading experience.
The main theme of the book—a race against time to recover the radioactive material before it causes a catastrophe—is fascinating and full of potential. How much time does Harry have, and how many players will join the action before the missing uranium lights up the sky? However, I felt that the ending was a bit rushed and didn’t provide all the answers I was expecting. Some storylines remained unresolved, leaving me with a sense of frustration.

Despite its imperfections, the plot succeeds in captivating you and keeping you engaged until the last page.
