După ce am terminat primul volum al seriei „Molia Stacojie”, am rămas nerăbdătoare să aflu cât mai repede cum se va continua povestea lui Rune și Gideon. Mi-a plăcut foarte mult primul volum, iar finalul m-a făcut și mai curioasă să văd ce le rezervă autoarea celor două personaje. Așa că am început „Vrăjitoarea rebelă” cu multă nerăbdare, dar și cu acel sentiment plăcut că mă întorc într-o lume de care îmi era dor. Și trebuie să spun de la început că această continuare nu m-a dezamăgit deloc. Din contră, mi-a oferit exact genul de poveste pe care speram să o găsesc: magie, pericol, comploturi, alianțe neașteptate, lupte și, bineînțeles, foarte multă tensiune între Rune și Gideon.
În acest volum o regăsim pe Rune Winters într-o situație extrem de dificilă. După ce identitatea ei de vrăjitoare a fost dezvăluită, ea devine o fugară și trebuie să facă tot posibilul pentru a supraviețui. Nu mai este fata care putea să-și ascundă adevărata identitate în spatele unei imagini elegante și aparent superficiale. De data aceasta, Rune este nevoită să ia decizii mult mai grele și să se confrunte direct cu urmările alegerilor sale. Pentru a avea o șansă, ajunge să se alieze cu Cressida Roseblood, o femeie puternică, nemiloasă și foarte periculoasă, care își dorește să readucă vrăjitoarele la putere și să reinstaureze vechea ordine. Rune știe cât de riscantă este această alianță, dar uneori, într-o lume în care toată lumea pare să te vrea mort, nu prea îți mai permiți să alegi varianta sigură.
De cealaltă parte îl avem pe Gideon Sharpe, iar relația lui cu Rune este în continuare una dintre cele mai interesante părți ale cărții. Gideon a fost crescut să urască vrăjitoarele și și-a construit întreaga viață în jurul ideii că acestea trebuie distruse. El este un personaj care pornește de la convingerea că face ceea ce trebuie pentru a-și proteja poporul și lumea în care trăiește. Problema este că Rune este tot ceea ce el a fost învățat să urască, dar este și fata pe care a ajuns să o iubească. Iar această contradicție îl pune în situații din ce în ce mai dificile.
Mi-a plăcut foarte mult să urmăresc lupta lui Gideon cu propriile sentimente. El a jurat că va ucide orice vrăjitoare, dar toate lucrurile pe care le credea atât de simple încep să se schimbe atunci când vine vorba despre Rune. Sentimentele lui nu dispar doar pentru că el încearcă să le ignore, iar apropierea dintre cei doi face ca tensiunea dintre ei să fie și mai puternică. Rune, la rândul ei, nu este un personaj care așteaptă să fie salvat. Ea luptă, ia decizii, își asumă riscuri și încearcă să facă ceea ce consideră că este corect, chiar și atunci când acest lucru o poate costa foarte mult.
Cred că tocmai felul în care sunt construite personajele mi-a plăcut atât de mult la această serie. Nu avem personaje împărțite simplu în bune și rele. Fiecare are propriile motive, propriile frici și propriile răni. Chiar și atunci când nu sunt de acord cu alegerile lor, pot să înțeleg de ce ajung să le facă. Rune și Gideon încearcă, fiecare în felul său, să obțină ceea ce cred că este bine atât pentru ei, cât și pentru oamenii lor. Uneori, însă, ceea ce este corect pentru un om poate însemna distrugerea lumii celuilalt. Iar acest lucru face ca toate alegerile lor să fie mult mai grele.
Un alt lucru care mi-a plăcut foarte mult este faptul că, din nou, avem parte de numeroase comploturi, alianțe și lupte. Nimic nu este prea sigur, iar personajele nu pot avea încredere completă în cei din jurul lor. Alianțele se schimbă, apar planuri ascunse și fiecare încearcă să-și joace cât mai bine cărțile. Acțiunea se desfășoară într-un ritm care m-a făcut să vreau să citesc în continuare, mai ales pentru că eram foarte curioasă să văd în ce direcție va merge povestea.
Mi s-a părut interesant și modul în care cartea vorbește despre putere, libertate și dorința de a schimba lumea. Cressida își dorește să readucă la putere vrăjitoarele, în timp ce Gideon vrea să apere republica și tot ceea ce s-a construit după căderea lor. La prima vedere, pare că unul dintre ei trebuie să aibă dreptate și celălalt să greșească. Dar, pe măsură ce povestea avansează, lucrurile devin mult mai complicate. Înțelegi că, în spatele fiecărei tabere, există oameni care au suferit și oameni care cred sincer că luptă pentru un viitor mai bun.
Iar în mijlocul tuturor acestor conflicte se află Rune și Gideon. Mi-a fost foarte dor de ei și mi-a făcut plăcere să-i văd din nou împreună, chiar dacă relația lor este departe de a fi una simplă. Între ei există atât de multe lucruri nespuse, atât de multă neîncredere și, în același timp, atât de multe sentimente, încât fiecare întâlnire dintre ei vine cu o doză serioasă de tensiune. Sunt doi oameni care ar trebui să fie dușmani, dar care nu pot să ignore ceea ce simt unul pentru celălalt.
Mi-a plăcut în mod special ideea că magia nu este singurul lucru care îi poate despărți. De fapt, diferențele dintre ei, trecutul, jurămintele și lumea în care trăiesc par uneori obstacole mult mai mari decât orice vrajă. Și totuși, în ciuda tuturor lucrurilor care îi separă, legătura dintre Rune și Gideon continuă să existe. Nicio vrajă nu pare suficient de puternică pentru a-i despărți, dar nici lumea în care trăiesc nu pare pregătită să-i lase să fie împreună.
Gideon a jurat că va ucide vrăjitoarele, iar Rune este una dintre ele. Dar sentimentele lui pentru ea îi complică toate convingerile. Rune, la rândul ei, a reușit să rupă blestemul Vânătorului fără inimă, însă acest lucru nu înseamnă că a scăpat de toate blestemele. Între cei doi rămâne o dorință puternică de a fi împreună, chiar și atunci când rațiunea le spune că ar trebui să stea departe unul de celălalt. Mi s-a părut foarte frumos modul în care autoarea transformă iubirea lor într-o forță care poate salva, dar și distruge.
De fapt, acesta este unul dintre mesajele care mi-au rămas cel mai mult în minte după terminarea cărții: nimeni nu este complet bun și nimeni nu este complet rău. Personajele iubesc, suferă, greșesc și încearcă să repare lucrurile în felul în care cred ele că este corect. Uneori iubirea îi face mai puternici, alteori îi împinge să ia decizii dureroase. Este o iubire care nu vine fără sacrificii și care poate să-i ducă atât spre fericire, cât și spre distrugere.
Pe tot parcursul cărții am simțit că sunt prinsă în poveste și că vreau să ajung cât mai repede la final. De fiecare dată când credeam că lucrurile încep să se liniștească, apărea o nouă problemă, un nou plan sau o altă întorsătură de situație. Tocmai de aceea, lectura a decurs foarte ușor pentru mine. Am vrut să știu ce se întâmplă cu Rune și Gideon, dacă vor reuși să-și depășească diferențele, cine va câștiga lupta pentru putere și, mai ales, cum se va încheia povestea lor.
Iar pentru mine, finalul unei cărți este foarte important. După ce petreci două volume alături de personaje, ajungi să te atașezi de ele și vrei ca povestea lor să primească încheierea pe care o merită. „Vrăjitoarea rebelă” mi-a oferit exact sentimentul acela dulce-amărui pe care îl ai atunci când termini o carte care ți-a plăcut foarte mult. Am fost nerăbdătoare să aflu cum se termină totul, dar în același timp mi-a părut rău să-mi iau rămas-bun de la această lume și de la personajele ei.
Per total, mi-a plăcut foarte mult „Vrăjitoarea rebelă” și cred că a fost continuarea de care aveam nevoie după primul volum. Mi-a plăcut să mă reîntâlnesc cu Rune și Gideon, să le urmăresc aventurile, să văd cum se schimbă și cât de mult sunt dispuși să sacrifice pentru lucrurile în care cred. Mi-a plăcut povestea lor de dragoste, dar și faptul că romanul nu se rezumă doar la romantism. Avem magie, conflicte, politică, trădări, alianțe, lupte și personaje care trebuie să facă alegeri dificile.
„Vrăjitoarea rebelă” este pentru mine o poveste despre iubire, dar și despre curajul de a lupta pentru ceea ce consideri că este corect, chiar și atunci când nu există o alegere perfectă. Este o carte care m-a făcut să țin la personaje, să-mi doresc să le fie bine și să citesc cu nerăbdare până la ultima pagină. Iar acum, după ce am terminat-o, pot spune că este una dintre acele povești la care voi reveni cu drag în gând. Rune și Gideon au avut parte de o călătorie plină de pericole, greșeli, iubire și sacrificii, iar eu m-am bucurat enorm că am avut ocazia să o urmăresc.

After finishing the first volume in the „Crimson Moth” series, I was left eager to find out as soon as possible how Rune and Gideon’s story would continue. I really enjoyed the first book, and the ending made me even more curious to see what the author had in store for these two characters. So, I started „The Rebel Witch” with a lot of anticipation, but also with that pleasant feeling of returning to a world I had missed. And I have to say right from the start that this sequel did not disappoint me at all. On the contrary, it gave me exactly the kind of story I was hoping to find: magic, danger, conspiracies, unexpected alliances, battles, and, of course, plenty of tension between Rune and Gideon.
In this volume, we find Rune Winters in an extremely difficult situation. After her identity as a witch is revealed, she becomes a fugitive and has to do everything she can to survive. She is no longer the girl who could hide her true identity behind an elegant and seemingly superficial image. This time, Rune is forced to make much harder decisions and directly face the consequences of her choices. In order to have a chance, she ends up allying herself with Cressida Roseblood, a powerful, ruthless, and extremely dangerous woman who wants to restore witches to power and reinstate the old order. Rune knows how risky this alliance is, but sometimes, in a world where everyone seems to want you dead, you simply cannot afford to choose the safe option.
On the other side, we have Gideon Sharpe, and his relationship with Rune continues to be one of the most interesting parts of the book. Gideon was raised to hate witches and has built his entire life around the belief that they must be destroyed. He is a character who starts out convinced that he is doing the right thing to protect his people and the world he lives in. The problem is that Rune is everything he was taught to hate, but she is also the girl he has come to love. And this contradiction puts him in increasingly difficult situations.
I really enjoyed following Gideon’s struggle with his own feelings. He swore that he would kill every witch, but all the things he once believed were so simple begin to change when it comes to Rune. His feelings do not disappear simply because he tries to ignore them, and the closeness between them makes the tension even stronger. Rune, in turn, is not the kind of character who waits to be saved. She fights, makes decisions, takes risks, and tries to do what she believes is right, even when it may cost her dearly.
I think this is precisely what I love so much about the way the characters are written in this series. We do not have characters who are simply divided into good and evil. Each of them has their own reasons, fears, and wounds. Even when I do not agree with their choices, I can understand why they make them. Rune and Gideon are each trying, in their own way, to achieve what they believe is best both for themselves and for their people. Sometimes, however, what is right for one person can mean the destruction of the other person’s world. And this makes all of their choices much more difficult.
Another thing I really enjoyed is that, once again, we get plenty of conspiracies, alliances, and battles. Nothing feels completely safe, and the characters cannot fully trust the people around them. Alliances shift, hidden plans emerge, and everyone is trying to play their cards as carefully as possible. The story moves at a pace that made me want to keep reading, especially because I was very curious to see which direction the plot would take.
I also found it interesting how the book explores power, freedom, and the desire to change the world. Cressida wants to restore witches to power, while Gideon wants to protect the republic and everything that was built after their fall. At first glance, it seems as though one of them has to be right and the other has to be wrong. But as the story progresses, things become much more complicated. You begin to understand that behind each side are people who have suffered and people who genuinely believe they are fighting for a better future.
And in the middle of all these conflicts are Rune and Gideon. I had missed them so much, and I loved seeing them together again, even though their relationship is far from simple. There are so many things left unsaid between them, so much distrust, and at the same time, so many feelings that every encounter between them comes with a serious amount of tension. They are two people who are supposed to be enemies, yet they cannot ignore what they feel for each other.
I especially liked the idea that magic is not the only thing that can keep them apart. In fact, their differences, their past, their vows, and the world they live in sometimes seem like much greater obstacles than any spell. And yet, despite everything that separates them, the bond between Rune and Gideon continues to exist. No spell seems powerful enough to tear them apart, but neither does the world they live in seem ready to let them be together.
Gideon swore that he would kill witches, and Rune is one of them. But his feelings for her complicate all of his beliefs. Rune, meanwhile, managed to break the Heartless Hunter’s curse, but that does not mean she has escaped all curses. There is still a powerful desire between them to be together, even when reason tells them they should stay away from each other. I found it beautiful how the author turns their love into a force that can both save and destroy.
In fact, this is one of the messages that stayed with me the most after finishing the book: no one is completely good, and no one is completely evil. The characters love, suffer, make mistakes, and try to fix things in the way they believe is right. Sometimes love makes them stronger, while other times it pushes them to make painful decisions. It is a kind of love that does not come without sacrifices and that can lead them toward both happiness and destruction.
Throughout the entire book, I felt completely caught up in the story and wanted to reach the end as quickly as possible. Every time I thought things were finally starting to calm down, a new problem, a new plan, or another twist would appear. That is precisely why the book was such an easy read for me. I wanted to know what would happen to Rune and Gideon, whether they would manage to overcome their differences, who would win the struggle for power, and, most importantly, how their story would end.
And for me, the ending of a books is very important. After spending two books alongside these characters, you become attached to them and want their story to receive the ending it deserves. „The Rebel Witch” gave me exactly that bittersweet feeling you get when you finish a books you have really enjoyed. I was eager to find out how everything would end, but at the same time, I was sad to say goodbye to this world and its characters.
Overall, I really enjoyed „The Rebel Witch”, and I think it was exactly the sequel I needed after the first book. I loved meeting Rune and Gideon again, following their adventures, seeing how they change, and discovering how much they are willing to sacrifice for the things they believe in. I enjoyed their love story, but I also appreciated the fact that the novel is not focused solely on romance. We get magic, conflict, politics, betrayals, alliances, battles, and characters who have to make difficult choices.
„The Rebel Witch” is, to me, a story about love, but also about having the courage to fight for what you believe is right, even when there is no perfect choice. It is a book that made me care about the characters, want the best for them, and keep reading eagerly until the very last page. And now that I have finished it, I can say that it is one of those stories I will look back on fondly. Rune and Gideon went through a journey filled with danger, mistakes, love, and sacrifices, and I am incredibly glad I had the chance to experience it with them.
