Îmi doream să ajung la „Enchantra” încă de când am terminat „Phantasma”, pentru că acel prim volum mi-a lăsat o curiozitate puternică și multe întrebări. Totuși, timpul nu a fost deloc de partea mea și am tot amânat lectura. Cu atât mai mult, bucuria a fost mai mare când, în sfârșit, am simțit că momentul potrivit a venit și am putut să mă cufund în această poveste. A fost genul acela de carte la care ajungi mai târziu, dar care parcă îți confirmă că a meritat așteptarea.
De data aceasta, povestea o urmărește pe Genevieve, un personaj despre care aflăm doar în treacăt în primul volum, dar care aici capătă o voce proprie și o poveste mult mai complexă. Mi-a plăcut mult să o descopăr mai bine, pentru că este exact așa cum era sugerată: curajoasă, impulsivă, dornică de aventură. În același timp, însă, nu este lipsită de vulnerabilitate. Dorul față de sora ei, Ofelia, și mai ales absența mamei, apasă constant asupra ei și îi influențează alegerile. Această combinație între forță și fragilitate o face un personaj ușor de înțeles și de urmărit.
Acțiunea este bine construită și are un ritm care te ține captiv în poveste fără să devină obositor. Sunt momente tensionate, dar și clipe în care lucrurile par să se liniștească, doar pentru ca apoi să apară o nouă întorsătură de situație. Mi-a plăcut felul în care autoarea a dozat totul, nimic nu pare grăbit, dar nici nu simți că stagnează. Aventurile lui Genevieve sunt pline de obstacole, secrete și alegeri dificile, iar fiecare pas înainte vine cu un cost.
Un alt aspect care mi-a atras atenția a fost modul în care au fost construite personajele. Fiecare pare să ascundă ceva, să aibă propriile motive și interese, iar asta adaugă un strat de mister și tensiune relațiilor dintre ele. Nu știi niciodată complet în cine să ai încredere, iar acest lucru te face să rămâi atent la fiecare detaliu. Interacțiunile sunt dinamice, uneori încărcate emoțional, alteori pline de suspiciune, ceea ce contribuie mult la atmosfera poveștii.
Per total, „Enchantra” a fost o continuare care mi-a plăcut și care mi-a oferit exact genul de experiență pe care o căutam: o poveste captivantă, personaje bine conturate și o lume care încă mai are multe de oferit. Nu a fost o lectură perfectă, dar a fost una care m-a captivat și m-a făcut să vreau să aflu mai mult. Este, pentru mine, o lectură de patru stele și o dovadă că seria merită continuată mai departe.
Enchantra – Kaylie Smith (Wicked Games, #2)
I had wanted to get to „Enchantra” ever since I finished „Phantasma”, because that first volume left me with a strong sense of curiosity and many unanswered questions. However, time was not on my side at all, and I kept postponing the reading. That made the joy even greater when, finally, I felt that the right moment had come and I could immerse myself in this story. It’s the kind of book you get to later, but which somehow confirms that it was worth the wait.
This time, the story follows Genevieve, a character we only briefly learn about in the first volume, but who here gains her own voice and a much more complex story. I really enjoyed getting to know her better, because she is exactly as she was hinted to be: brave, impulsive, and eager for adventure. At the same time, however, she is not without vulnerability. Her longing for her sister, Ofelia, and especially the absence of her mother, constantly weigh on her and influence her choices. This combination of strength and fragility makes her a character who is easy to understand and follow.
The plot is well constructed and has a rhythm that keeps you engaged without becoming exhausting. There are tense moments, but also times when things seem to calm down, only for a new twist to appear. I liked the way the author balanced everything—nothing feels rushed, but it never feels like it’s dragging either. Genevieve’s adventures are full of obstacles, secrets, and difficult choices, and every step forward comes with a cost.
Another aspect that caught my attention was how the characters were built. Each one seems to hide something, to have their own motives and interests, which adds a layer of mystery and tension to their relationships. You never fully know who to trust, and that keeps you attentive to every detail. The interactions are dynamic—sometimes emotionally charged, other times filled with suspicion—which greatly contributes to the story’s atmosphere.
Overall, „Enchantra” was a sequel I enjoyed and one that gave me exactly the kind of experience I was looking for: an engaging story, well-developed characters, and a world that still has a lot to offer. It wasn’t a perfect read, but it was one that captivated me and made me want to find out more. For me, it’s a four-star read and proof that the series is worth continuing.
