„El & Ea” de Alice Feeney este, pentru mine, genul acela de thriller pe care îl începi și ajungi să-l termini fără să-ți dai seama când au trecut orele. A fost o lectură care m-a captivat complet, pentru că totul este construit în așa fel încât să te țină mereu în tensiune și să te facă să te îndoiești de fiecare personaj.
Povestea o are în centru pe Anna, o jurnalistă care se întoarce în orașul natal și ajunge să relateze despre o serie de crime care au loc chiar acolo. În paralel, fostul ei soț, Jack, este detectivul care se ocupă de caz. Ce mi s-a părut foarte interesant este tocmai această legătură dintre ei: nu mai sunt un cuplu, dar trecutul lor încă apasă greu, iar interacțiunile dintre ei sunt pline de tensiune, emoții nespuse și secrete. Pe măsură ce ancheta avansează, devine din ce în ce mai clar că lucrurile sunt mult mai complicate decât par.
Mi-a plăcut foarte mult modul în care este construită povestea, pentru că autoarea te face să suspectezi absolut pe toată lumea. Fiecare personaj pare să aibă ceva de ascuns, iar fiecare indiciu te duce într-o altă direcție. Ajungi să-ți schimbi constant teoriile și să nu mai ai încredere în nimeni, ceea ce face lectura extrem de captivantă.
Personajele mi s-au părut foarte bine construite, în special Anna și Jack. Amândoi sunt marcați de trecut, de greșeli și traume care se dezvăluie treptat, pe parcursul cărții. Tocmai această latură umană, imperfectă, m-a făcut să empatizez cu ei, chiar și atunci când nu știam dacă spun adevărul sau nu. Relația lor, chiar și după divorț, adaugă un strat suplimentar de emoție și complexitate întregii povești.
Un alt lucru care mi-a plăcut mult a fost alternarea capitolelor. Povestea este spusă din perspectiva ei, a lui și, pe alocuri, a ucigașului, ceea ce creează o atmosferă apăsătoare și plină de mister. Ai senzația că ești mereu foarte aproape de adevăr, dar în același timp îți scapă ceva esențial.
Acțiunea este alertă, iar stilul de scriere este atât de captivant încât te face să citești fără pauză. Este genul acela de carte despre care spui „încă un capitol” și te trezești că ai ajuns la final. Totul este gândit astfel încât să te țină prins până la ultima pagină, când, în sfârșit, afli cine este criminalul.
Pentru mine, „El & Ea” a fost o lectură de cinci stele. Mi-a plăcut enorm felul în care m-a făcut să suspectez pe toată lumea, cât de bine au fost construite personajele și cât de intensă a fost întreaga experiență. Este o carte care te ține în priză de la început până la final și care, cu siguranță, merită citită dacă îți plac thrillerele psihologice pline de răsturnări de situație.
His & Hers – Alice Feeney
„His & Hers” by Alice Feeney is, for me, that kind of thriller you start and end up finishing before you even realize how many hours have passed. It was a completely gripping read, because everything is built in such a way that it constantly keeps you on edge and makes you doubt every single character.
The story centers on Anna, a journalist who returns to her hometown and ends up reporting on a series of murders happening right there. At the same time, her ex-husband, Jack, is the detective in charge of the case. What I found especially interesting is this connection between them: they are no longer a couple, but their past still weighs heavily, and their interactions are filled with tension, unspoken emotions, and secrets. As the investigation progresses, it becomes increasingly clear that things are far more complicated than they seem.
I really liked the way the story is constructed, because the author makes you suspect absolutely everyone. Every character seems to have something to hide, and each clue leads you in a different direction. You constantly find yourself changing your theories and losing trust in everyone, which makes the reading experience extremely engaging.
I found the characters to be very well developed, especially Anna and Jack. Both are shaped by their past, by mistakes and traumas that are gradually revealed throughout the book. It is precisely this human, imperfect side that made me empathize with them, even when I wasn’t sure whether they were telling the truth or not. Their relationship, even after the divorce, adds an extra layer of emotion and complexity to the whole story.
Another thing I really enjoyed was the alternating chapters. The story is told from her perspective, his perspective, and occasionally the killer’s, which creates a heavy, mysterious atmosphere. You constantly feel like you’re very close to the truth, yet at the same time something essential keeps slipping away.
The action is fast-paced, and the writing style is so engaging that it makes you read without stopping. It’s that kind of book where you say “just one more chapter” and suddenly realize you’ve reached the end. Everything is crafted to keep you hooked until the very last page, when you finally find out who the killer is.
For me, „His & Hers” was a five-star read. I absolutely loved how it made me suspect everyone, how well the characters were built, and how intense the entire experience was. It’s a book that keeps you on edge from beginning to end and definitely worth reading if you enjoy psychological thrillers full of twists and turns.
