„Furia Aurie” continuă povestea lui Darrow într-un mod care, pentru mine, a fost destul de dificil la început. Primele 100-150 de pagini le-am parcurs greu, cu senzația constantă că citesc o cu totul altă carte: alt autor, alt stil, alt ritm, chiar și altă serie. Dacă „Furia Roșie” m-a prins rapid, aici lucrurile au fost mult mai lente și mai încărcate, iar tranziția a fost greu de acceptat. Nu m-am simțit imediat conectată cu povestea și, recunosc, a fost nevoie de multă răbdare ca să merg mai departe.
Un alt aspect care m-a pus serios la încercare a fost numărul foarte mare de personaje. Apar mereu fețe noi, fiecare cu ranguri, alianțe și interese diferite, iar asta m-a bulversat complet. De multe ori a trebuit să mă opresc și să-mi amintesc cine este cine și de partea cui se află. În plus, accentul pus pe strategii militare și jocuri politice m-a obosit și, pe alocuri, chiar m-a plictisit. Sunt detaliate, complexe, dar pentru mine au tăiat din emoția poveștii și din dinamismul cu care eram obișnuită.
Totuși, lucrurile încep să se schimbe vizibil din a doua jumătate a părții a doua. De acolo, cartea m-a prins cu adevărat. Acțiunea devine mai intensă, mizele cresc, iar Darrow revine în prim-plan așa cum mi-l doream: frânt, furios, dar hotărât să schimbe un sistem nedrept. Mi-a plăcut mult să-l văd evoluând, confruntându-se cu consecințele alegerilor sale și realizând că revoluția nu este deloc simplă sau curată.
Comparativ cu primul volum, „Furia Aurie” mi s-a părut mult mai science-fiction. Avem mai mult spațiu, mai multă tehnologie, mai multe bătălii la scară mare și o lume care se extinde rapid. Dacă prima carte mi s-a părut mai degrabă o distopie cu puține elemente SF, aici simți cu adevărat amploarea universului creat de Pierce Brown.
Spre final, ritmul devine alert și antrenant, cu răsturnări de situație, trădări și momente tensionate care m-au făcut să citesc mult mai repede. Finalul m-a ținut în priză și mi-a reamintit de ce această serie este atât de iubită, chiar dacă drumul până acolo nu a fost ușor pentru mine.
Am stat mult pe gânduri dacă „Furia Aurie” merită 3 sau 4 stele. A fost o lectură inegală, cu părți care m-au frustrat și altele care m-au captivat cu adevărat. În final, am ales 4 stele, pentru curajul autorului de a schimba direcția poveștii, pentru complexitatea personajelor și pentru finalul puternic, care m-a făcut curioasă să continui seria.
Golden Son – Pierce Brown (Red Rising, #2)
“Golden Son” continues Darrow’s story in a way that, for me, was quite difficult at first. I struggled through the first 100–150 pages, constantly feeling like I was reading a completely different book: a different author, a different style, a different pace—almost even a different series. While „Red Rising” hooked me quickly, this one felt much slower and heavier, and the transition was hard to accept. I didn’t feel instantly connected to the story and, honestly, it took a lot of patience to keep going.
Another aspect that seriously tested me was the sheer number of characters. New faces appear constantly, each with their own ranks, alliances, and interests, and that completely overwhelmed me. Many times I had to stop and remind myself who was who and which side they were on. On top of that, the strong focus on military strategies and political games wore me down and, at times, even bored me. They are detailed and complex, but for me they cut into the emotional impact of the story and the dynamism I was used to.
That said, things start to change noticeably in the second half of Part Two. From that point on, the book truly grabbed me. The action becomes more intense, the stakes rise, and Darrow returns to the forefront exactly how I wanted to see him: broken, furious, but determined to change an unjust system. I really enjoyed watching him evolve, face the consequences of his choices, and realize that a revolution is anything but simple or clean.
Compared to the first volume, „Golden Son” felt much more science fiction to me. There’s more space, more technology, more large-scale battles, and a world that expands rapidly. If the first book felt more like a dystopia with light sci-fi elements, here you truly feel the full scope of the universe Pierce Brown has created.
Toward the end, the pace becomes fast and gripping, with twists, betrayals, and tense moments that made me read much faster. The ending kept me on edge and reminded me why this series is so beloved, even if the road to get there wasn’t an easy one for me.
I went back and forth for a long time on whether „Golden Son” deserved 3 or 4 stars. It was an uneven read, with parts that frustrated me and others that genuinely captivated me. In the end, I chose 4 stars—for the author’s courage to shift the direction of the story, for the complexity of the characters, and for the powerful ending that made me curious to continue the series.
