„Divorțul perfect” de Jeneva Rose este genul de thriller care te face să te întrebi cât de bine îl cunoști, de fapt, pe omul cu care împarți viața. Pentru mine a fost o lectură intensă, cu multe momente tensionate și un personaj feminin puternic, dar și fragil în felul ei. I-am dat patru stele – pentru ritm, atmosferă și modul în care m-a ținut prinsă, chiar dacă uneori lucrurile au părut puțin prea dramatizate.
O regăsim pe Sarah Morgan, fostă avocată de top, la unsprezece ani după ce și-a apărat primul soț, acuzat de uciderea amantei sale. Între timp, a lăsat în urmă tribunalul, și-a reconstruit viața alături de Bob și a încercat să fie fericită. Totul pare stabil… până când află că Bob a avut o aventură. O singură noapte, spune el. O greșeală. Dar Sarah a mai auzit asta. Și nu mai are răbdare.
Hotărâtă, cere divorțul. Numai că acest divorț nu este unul obișnuit. Devine un joc periculos, cu acuzații, manipulări și suspiciuni. Iar când amanta lui Bob dispare, iar cazul fostului soț se redeschide, viața lui Sarah se transformă din nou într-un haos. Doar că, de data asta, ea nu mai apără pe nimeni. Acum, trebuie să se apere pe ea însăși.
Sarah este un personaj fascinant – controlată, inteligentă, sarcastică și mult mai vulnerabilă decât lasă să se vadă. Nu este genul care țipă sau dramatizează, dar când lovește, o face cu precizie chirurgicală. Bob, în schimb, este duplicitar și ușor de detestat. Dialogurile dintre ei sunt tensionate, pline de ironie și jocuri de putere – poate cel mai bun aspect al cărții, după părerea mea.
Mi-a plăcut mult stilul alert, capitolele scurte și răsturnările de situație. Autoarea știe cum să creeze suspans și cum să te facă să te îndoiești de fiecare personaj. Am bănuit pe toată lumea și tot am fost surprinsă.
Nu i-am dat cinci stele doar pentru că unele elemente au fost prea „perfect” aliniate, ca să șocheze – puțin cam prea mult, pe alocuri. Dar cartea reușește ce promite: te prinde, te învârte și te face să te întrebi cine, de fapt, merită încrederea ta.
Dacă îți plac thrillerele cu femei inteligente, bărbați suspect de liniștiți și secrete care ies la lumină când ți-e lumea mai dragă, „Divorțul perfect” este o alegere excelentă.

„The Perfect Divorce” by Jeneva Rose is the kind of thriller that makes you question how well you really know the person you share your life with. For me, it was an intense read, filled with tension and centered around a strong yet fragile female character. I gave it four stars—for the pacing, the atmosphere, and the way it kept me hooked, even if at times it felt a bit overly dramatized.
We meet Sarah Morgan, a former top attorney, eleven years after she defended her first husband, who was accused of killing his mistress. Since then, she has left the courtroom behind, rebuilt her life with Bob, and tried to be happy. Everything seems stable… until she finds out Bob had an affair. Just one night, he says. A mistake. But Sarah has heard that before. And this time, she’s done waiting.
Determined, she asks for a divorce. But this divorce is far from ordinary. It turns into a dangerous game of accusations, manipulation, and suspicion. And when Bob’s mistress disappears and the old case is reopened, Sarah’s life is once again thrown into chaos. Only this time, she’s not defending anyone. Now, she has to defend herself.
Sarah is a fascinating character—controlled, smart, sarcastic, and far more vulnerable than she lets on. She’s not the kind to scream or make a scene, but when she strikes, it’s with surgical precision. Bob, on the other hand, is duplicitous and easy to dislike. The dialogue between them is sharp, tense, full of irony and power plays—probably the best part of the book, in my opinion.
I really enjoyed the fast-paced style, the short chapters, and the constant twists. The author knows how to build suspense and make you doubt every character. I suspected everyone, and I was still surprised.
I didn’t give it five stars only because some plot elements felt a bit too perfectly aligned—clearly designed to shock, which was slightly over the top in places. But the book delivers what it promises: it hooks you, spins you around, and makes you question who truly deserves your trust.
If you enjoy thrillers featuring smart women, suspiciously calm men, and secrets that surface when you least expect them, „The Perfect Divorce” is an excellent choice.
