„Lycan” este genul de carte care te prinde încă din primele pagini și nu-ți mai dă drumul până la final. Acțiunea se desfășoară într-o lume dură, marcată de Marele Măcel, un eveniment care a schimbat pentru totdeauna echilibrul dintre oameni și bestii. Monștrii nu mai sunt doar povești spuse pentru a speria copiii, ci realitatea crudă în care omenirea a ajuns să lupte pentru supraviețuire. Atmosfera este întunecată, tensionată, plină de magie neagră, război și alianțe fragile, iar universul creat de autoare este extrem de bine conturat și ușor de vizualizat.
Kalis Ward este o eroină orfană, crescută în Aldagor, ținutul vârcolacilor, unde a învățat un singur lucru: să supraviețuiască. Este santinelă, o luptătoare dură, obișnuită cu sângele, frica și pierderea. Viața ei se schimbă radical în momentul în care este recrutată de regele Akima pentru a fi transformată în vârcolac și trimisă la război. Pleacă într-o ultimă vânătoare, dar soarta îi joacă o festă neașteptată și ajunge prizonieră în ținutul dușmanului. De aici începe adevărata poveste – una plină de pericole, asasini, magie întunecată și decizii care pot schimba cursul unui război.
Pentru mine, Kalis este genul ideal de personaj feminin. Este puternică, sigură pe ea, independentă și nu așteaptă să fie salvată. Luptă pentru ea și pentru cei pe care îi consideră familie, are o conștiință de fier și nu se pierde nici măcar atunci când lumea din jurul ei se prăbușește. Nu este perfectă, dar este reală, iar asta o face extrem de ușor de îndrăgit.
Amun este exact acel outcast king care fură scena de fiecare dată când apare în peisaj. Conducător cu o putere imensă și un aspect feroce, el ascunde, în spatele imaginii de bestie, o bunătate rară și o iubire incredibil de pură. Felul în care o vede pe Kalis, cum o protejează și cum ajunge să o venereze chiar înainte de a o cunoaște cu adevărat, mi s-a părut absolut superb. Relația lor este construită pe ideea de destin, de suflete pereche, iar legătura dintre ei se simte profundă, intensă și inevitabilă.
Povestea lor de dragoste este una de tip killer beauty and the beast, cu un antagonist turned ally și marriage of convenience, dar tratată într-un mod care nu pare deloc forțat. Din contră, totul evoluează natural, prin încercări grele, trădări, lupte și sacrificii. Mi-a plăcut enorm faptul că povestea este spusă din perspectivă duală, pentru că ne permite să înțelegem mai bine atât gândurile lui Kalis, cât și pe cele ale lui Amun, iar asta adaugă profunzime și emoție relației lor.
Cartea are și câteva plot twist-uri la care nu m-am așteptat deloc, dar care au fost extrem de bine plasate. Au crescut tensiunea, suspansul și m-au ținut constant în alertă. De fiecare dată când credeam că lucrurile se așază, apărea un nou pericol sau o revelație care schimba totul.
Aceasta a fost prima mea întâlnire cu autoarea, dar cu siguranță nu va fi și ultima. Am fost complet cucerită de univers, de personaje, de povestea de dragoste și de modul în care destinul joacă un rol atât de important în tot ce se întâmplă. Ca să nu mai vorbesc despre descrierile fizice ale personajelor – absolut divine. FMC-ul este pusă în valoare într-un mod superb, iar MMC-ul o adoră și o respectă total.
„Lycan” este o combinație intensă de fantasy, război, magie neagră și iubire predestinată, o poveste care m-a făcut să simt, să sper și să țin pumnii strânși până la ultima pagină. Pentru mine, este fără îndoială o lectură de cinci stele.

For me, Kalis is the ideal type of female character. She is strong, confident, independent, and never waits to be saved. She fights for herself and for those she considers family, has an unbreakable moral compass, and does not falter even when the world around her collapses. She isn’t perfect, but she is real, and that makes her incredibly easy to love.
Amun is exactly that outcast king who steals the spotlight every time he appears. A ruler of immense power with a ferocious appearance, he hides behind his beastly image a rare kindness and an incredibly pure love. The way he sees Kalis, how he protects her, and how he comes to revere her even before truly knowing her felt absolutely beautiful to me. Their relationship is built on the idea of destiny and soulmates, and the bond between them feels deep, intense, and inevitable.
Their love story is a killer beauty and the beast trope, with an antagonist-turned-ally and a marriage of convenience, yet it is handled in a way that never feels forced. On the contrary, everything develops naturally through hardship, betrayal, battles, and sacrifice. I especially loved the dual point of view, which allows us to better understand both Kalis’s and Amun’s thoughts, adding depth and emotion to their relationship.
The book also delivers several plot twists I never saw coming, all of them perfectly placed. They heightened the tension and suspense and kept me constantly on edge. Every time I thought things were settling, a new danger or revelation emerged and changed everything.
This was my first encounter with this author, but it certainly won’t be the last. I was completely captivated by the world, the characters, the love story, and the way destiny plays such a vital role in everything that unfolds. Not to mention the physical descriptions of the characters—absolutely divine. The FMC is portrayed beautifully, and the MMC adores and respects her completely.
“Lycan” is an intense blend of fantasy, war, black magic, and fated love—a story that made me feel, hope, and keep my fingers crossed until the very last page. For me, it is without a doubt a five-star read.
