„The Christmas Tree Farm” de Laurie Gilmore este genul de carte care te scoate din realitate și te transportă direct într-un decor de poveste, cu zăpadă, luminițe și emoții sincere. Revenirea în Dream Harbor a fost pentru mine extrem de plăcută, mai ales că autoarea reușește din nou să creeze acea atmosferă caldă, intimă, care te face să te simți parte din comunitate.
Kira North este o eroină atipică pentru o poveste de Crăciun: nu iubește deloc sărbătorile, nu crede în magia lor și preferă să-și vadă de treabă singură. Tocmai de aceea situația ei este aproape ironică – ajunge proprietara unei ferme de brazi de Crăciun într-un orășel mult prea drăgălaș pentru gustul ei. Ferma nu este deloc acel loc cozy din poze: este frig, este periculos, nu are încălzire, iar Kira se luptă singură cu toate problemele, refuzând ajutorul oricui. Încăpățânarea ei ascunde, de fapt, multă vulnerabilitate.
Celălalt protagonist, Bennett Ellis, ajunge în Dream Harbor ca să ia o pauză de la viața lui din California și, mai ales, de la o serie de întâlniri amoroase care s-au terminat prost. Ben este tipul luminos, calm, mereu dispus să ajute, genul de om pe care nu ai cum să nu-l placi. Întâlnirea dintre el și Kira, chiar pe câmpurile fermei, este scânteia de care avea nevoie povestea. Deși inițial nu are nicio intenție să se implice, soarta îi aduce din nou și din nou împreună, iar apropierea forțată face ca barierele dintre ei să înceapă să se ridice.
Mi-a plăcut enorm dinamica dintre ei: ea, morocănoasă și defensivă, el, soarele care încălzește totul în jur. Chimia lor este intensă, naturală și presărată cu mult umor, tensiune și momente picante, fără a pierde însă din profunzimea emoțională. Scenele petrecute la fermă, munca fizică, serile reci și apropierea inevitabilă creează acel sentiment de „forced proximity” care funcționează perfect. Da, există și celebrul trope „one bed”, care adaugă un plus de emoție și pasiune.
Un alt lucru care m-a bucurat a fost apariția personajelor din volumele anterioare. Mi-a plăcut să aflu ce mai fac, să-i regăsesc și să simt din nou legătura dintre ei. Dream Harbor nu este doar un decor, ci un oraș viu, plin de oameni care se susțin reciproc, iar acest aspect face seria și mai specială. Pentru mine, aceste povești de tip small town romance sunt extrem de reconfortante, iar Dream Harbor este, fără îndoială, locul în care aș vrea să trăiesc măcar pentru o iarnă.
„The Christmas Tree Farm” este o poveste de dragoste misterioasă și condimentată, cu un final fericit garantat, care îți încălzește inima și te face să zâmbești. Este genul de lectură care te face să uiți de griji, să te bucuri de emoții simple și să crezi din nou în magie. Consider că această serie este perfectă pentru fanii „Gilmore Girls”, iar această carte, în mod special, este tot ce ai nevoie pentru un Crăciun literar perfect. Din toate aceste motive, pentru mine este fără îndoială o lectură de cinci stele.

“The Christmas Tree Farm” by Laurie Gilmore is the kind of book that pulls you out of reality and transports you straight into a fairytale setting filled with snow, twinkling lights, and genuine emotions. Returning to Dream Harbor was an absolute delight for me, especially since the author once again manages to create that warm, intimate atmosphere that makes you feel like part of the community.
Kira North is an atypical heroine for a Christmas story: she doesn’t like the holidays at all, doesn’t believe in their magic, and prefers to mind her own business. That’s exactly why her situation feels almost ironic—she ends up owning a Christmas tree farm in a town that’s far too cute for her taste. The farm is nothing like the cozy pictures: it’s cold, dangerous, has no heating, and Kira struggles alone with all the problems, stubbornly refusing anyone’s help. Her stubbornness actually hides a lot of vulnerability.
The other protagonist, Bennett Ellis, arrives in Dream Harbor to take a break from his life in California and, above all, from a series of romantic relationships that ended badly. Ben is the bright, calm type, always ready to help—the kind of person you can’t help but like. His meeting with Kira, right there in the fields of the farm, is the spark the story needed. Although he initially has no intention of getting involved, fate keeps bringing them together, and this forced closeness slowly starts to break down the barriers between them.
I absolutely loved their dynamic: she is grumpy and defensive, while he is the sunshine that warms everything around him. Their chemistry is intense and natural, sprinkled with plenty of humor, tension, and spicy moments, without ever losing emotional depth. The scenes at the farm—the physical work, the cold evenings, and the inevitable closeness—create that perfect “forced proximity” feeling. Yes, the famous “one bed” trope is also there, adding an extra layer of emotion and passion.
Another thing that made me happy was the appearance of characters from the previous books. I loved finding out what they’ve been up to, reconnecting with them, and feeling that bond all over again. Dream Harbor isn’t just a setting—it’s a living town, full of people who support one another, and that makes the series even more special. For me, these small-town romance stories are incredibly comforting, and Dream Harbor is, without a doubt, a place where I’d love to live, at least for one winter.
“The Christmas Tree Farm” is a cozy, slightly spicy love story with a guaranteed happy ending, one that warms your heart and makes you smile. It’s the kind of read that helps you forget your worries, enjoy simple emotions, and believe in magic again. I truly believe this series is perfect for „Gilmore Girls” fans, and this book in particular is everything you need for a perfect literary Christmas. For all these reasons, it’s undoubtedly a five-star read for me.
