„Un blestem gravat în os” este al doilea volum din seria „Saga celor Nesortiți” și m-a prins din prima cu tensiunea ei dură și promisiunea unui destin care nu poate fi ocolit. Freya descoperă că sângele ei poartă o moștenire divină — o magie atât de puternică încât, dacă nu este oprită, va omorî mii de oameni nevinovați. Ideea asta te lovește din plin: tinzi să ții cu ea, dar îți este frică pentru ce va însemna viitorul.
Ceea ce mi-a plăcut cel mai mult este modul în care Freya devine personajul principal al propriei tragedii: nu este o eroină fără cusur, ci o femeie care încearcă cu disperare să schimbe un viitor îngrozitor. Pentru a găsi răspunsuri, ea încheie o alianță neașteptată cu cel mai mare dușman al Skalandului. Acel gest arată cât de mult este dispusă să riște — și mi s-a părut credibil și cutremurător. Misiunea ei o duce la clarvăzătoarea care i-a prezis soarta — aceeași care l-a trimis pe Bjorn să o ucidă — iar această legătură între personaje dă naștere unor scene încărcate de suspans.
Bjorn este un personaj complicat și pe alocuri tragic. Trădarea lui o arde pe Freya, dar jurămintele de sânge îi leagă: trebuie să-l țină aproape în timp ce încearcă să oprească războiul. Chimie între ei există, este palpabilă; tensiunea, dorința și neîncrederea fac fiecare întâlnire periculoasă. Mi-a plăcut cum autoarea nu cedează tentației unui romantism ușor — relația lor este construită pe frici, secrete și obligații. Asta o face mai realistă și mai dureroasă.
Lumea fantastică — zeii, ritualurile și tensiunile dintre muritori și divinități — este bine conturată. Se simte o atmosferă rece, aproape brutală, specifică mitologiei nordice: zei necruțători, destine țesute cu sânge și orașe amenințate de război. Bătălia care se apropie nu este doar una externă; cea mai dură confruntare este în interiorul Freyei. Cu magia a două zeițe arzându-i în vene, ea trebuie să decidă dacă va fi scutul poporului sau blestemul care-l va distruge.
Stilistic, lectura este intensă și adesea emoționantă. Am simțit frica, vinovăția și dorința personajelor. Totuși, sunt momente când mi-aș fi dorit mai multă claritate în explicațiile magice sau un ritm puțin mai echilibrat — unele scene par comprimate, altele prea lungite. Asta nu strică însă farmecul general; doar m-a făcut să simt că autoarea jonglează cu multe idei mari în același timp.
În concluzie, recomand cartea celor care iubesc fantasy-ul ancorat în mituri și povești puternice despre sacrificiu și iubire imposibilă. Are intensitate, personaje cu profunzime și un conflict moral care te ține treaz noaptea. Îi dau patru stele pentru că m-a emoționat și m-a ținut captivă în poveste, dar simt că ar fi putut să mai simplifice sau să întindă puțin anumite momente pentru a lăsa mai mult loc de respirat pentru personaje.
Dacă ești fan al mitologiei nordice și îți plac eroinele care luptă cu soarta lor — nu doar cu spada, ci și cu inima — atunci merită să îi dai o șansă.

Freya discovers that her blood carries a divine legacy — a magic so powerful that, if left unchecked, it could kill thousands of innocent people. That idea hits you hard: you want to root for her, but you can’t help fearing what the future might bring.
What I loved most is how Freya becomes the main character in her own tragedy. She’s not a flawless heroine, but a woman desperately trying to change a terrible destiny. To find answers, she forms an unexpected alliance with Skaland’s greatest enemy. That act alone shows how far she’s willing to go — and it felt both believable and haunting. Her journey leads her to the seer who once foretold her fate — the same one who sent Bjorn to kill her — and that connection between the characters creates moments filled with tension and suspense.
Bjorn is a complex and, at times, tragic character. His betrayal burns Freya deeply, yet blood oaths bind them together: she must keep him close while trying to stop the war. The chemistry between them is undeniable; the tension, desire, and mistrust make every encounter dangerous. I liked that the author resisted the temptation of easy romance — their relationship is built on fear, secrets, and duty. That makes it more realistic and more painful.
The fantasy world — with its gods, rituals, and the constant strain between mortals and deities — is vividly built. There’s a cold, almost brutal atmosphere that perfectly fits the Norse-inspired mythology: merciless gods, fates woven in blood, and cities on the brink of war. The coming battle isn’t just external; the fiercest fight is inside Freya herself. With the magic of two goddesses burning through her veins, she must decide whether she’ll be her people’s shield or the curse that destroys them.
Stylistically, the writing is intense and often emotional. I could feel the fear, guilt, and longing of the characters. Still, there were moments when I wished for a bit more clarity in the magical explanations or a slightly better pacing — some scenes felt too compressed, others stretched too long. That doesn’t ruin the overall experience, though; it just made me feel like the author was juggling many big ideas at once.
In conclusion, I’d recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy rooted in myth, with powerful stories about sacrifice and impossible love. It has intensity, deep characters, and a moral conflict that keeps you awake at night. I give it four stars because it moved me and kept me absorbed, though I think a bit more balance could have given the story more breathing room.
If you’re a fan of Norse mythology and strong heroines who fight not only with their swords but also with their hearts, this book is definitely worth a read.
