„Dragă copilă” de Romy Hausmann este un thriller de debut care m-a impresionat prin profunzimea emoțiilor și atmosfera tensionată. Cartea nu este doar o poveste despre un răpitor și victimele lui, ci o explorare a psihologiei complicate a oamenilor care au fost ținuți captivi împotriva voinței lor. Mi-a plăcut cum autoarea arată cât de mult influențează trecutul și experiențele noastre modul în care reacționăm în situații extreme, mai ales atunci când agresorul este o persoană familiară, în care ai avut cândva încredere deplină.
Într-o cabană ascunsă în mijlocul pădurii, viața Lenei și a celor doi copii ai ei, Hannah și Jonathan, este condusă cu mână de fier de un bărbat pe care ei îl numesc „papa”. Totul este controlat: orele de masă, vizitele la baie, momentele de învățare. El este convins că îi protejează de o lume periculoasă și că asigură stabilitatea familiei sale. Această rutină rece și mecanică creează o atmosferă sufocantă, iar pe mine m-a făcut să simt un amestec de furie și neputință.
Când femeia reușește, în sfârșit, să scape, ai crede că povestea se apropie de final. Dar, de fapt, coșmarul abia începe. Ea spune că este Lena, femeia dispărută în urmă cu paisprezece ani, are cicatricea potrivită și corespunde descrierii. Totuși, familia Lenei nu este convinsă – ceva nu se leagă. Tatăl Lenei, Matthias, este devastat, dar și plin de speranță, iar fiecare pas al lui în căutarea adevărului m-a emoționat profund.
Hannah, fetița care a scăpat cu ea din pădure, este un personaj fascinant: deșteaptă, dar marcată de regulile stricte cu care a crescut, ea ascunde detalii care pot schimba totul. Suspansul crește pe măsură ce realizezi că răpitorul nu a dispărut complet din umbră. Lena vrea cu disperare să-și recupereze viața, dar senzația că el este încă acolo, pregătit să reia controlul, nu-i dă pace.
Romy Hausmann construiește tensiunea cu răbdare, folosind mai multe perspective pentru a arăta cum trauma lasă urme adânci, nu doar asupra victimelor, ci și asupra celor care le așteaptă acasă. Deși unele părți mi s-au părut mai lente, am apreciat cât de bine este redată confuzia emoțională a personajelor. Finalul aduce răspunsuri, dar lasă și un fior de neliniște care te urmărește mult timp.
Pentru mine, „Dragă copilă” a fost o lectură intensă, care m-a făcut să simt frica, speranța și neputința personajelor. I-am acordat patru stele pentru că m-a ținut cu sufletul la gură și m-a făcut să mă gândesc la cât de fragilă este încrederea în ceilalți și cât de greu este să vindeci răni invizibile. O recomand oricui iubește thrillerele psihologice care te fac să te întrebi ce ai face tu într-o situație imposibilă.

„Dear Child” by Romy Hausmann is a debut thriller that impressed me with its emotional depth and tense atmosphere. The book is not just a story about a kidnapper and his victims, but an exploration of the complicated psychology of people who have been held captive against their will. I liked how the author shows how much our past and experiences influence the way we react in extreme situations—especially when the aggressor is someone familiar, someone you once trusted completely.
In a cabin hidden deep in the forest, the lives of Lena and her two children, Hannah and Jonathan, are ruled with an iron fist by a man they call “Papa.” Everything is controlled: mealtimes, bathroom visits, learning sessions. He is convinced that he’s protecting them from a dangerous world and ensuring his family’s stability. This cold, mechanical routine creates a suffocating atmosphere that made me feel a mix of anger and helplessness.
When the woman finally manages to escape, you’d think the story is nearing its end. But in fact, the nightmare is only beginning. She says she is Lena, the woman who disappeared fourteen years ago—she has the right scar and matches the description. Still, Lena’s family isn’t convinced—something doesn’t add up. Lena’s father, Matthias, is devastated but also hopeful, and every step he takes in his search for the truth deeply moved me.
Hannah, the little girl who escaped with her from the forest, is a fascinating character: smart, but shaped by the strict rules she grew up with, she hides details that could change everything. The suspense builds as you realize the kidnapper hasn’t completely vanished from the shadows. Lena desperately wants to reclaim her life, but the feeling that he’s still out there, ready to take control again, won’t leave her.
Romy Hausmann builds tension patiently, using multiple perspectives to show how trauma leaves deep scars—not only on the victims but also on those waiting for them at home. Although some parts felt a bit slow, I appreciated how well the characters’ emotional confusion was portrayed. The ending brings answers but also leaves a chilling unease that lingers long after you finish.
For me, „Dear Child” was an intense read that made me feel the characters’ fear, hope, and helplessness. I gave it four stars because it kept me on the edge of my seat and made me think about how fragile trust can be, and how hard it is to heal invisible wounds. I recommend it to anyone who loves psychological thrillers that make you wonder what you would do in an impossible situation.
