Am citit cu sufletul la gură volumul al doilea din seria „Păcate arse” și pot spune că Raluca Iacob știe să te prindă de la primele pagini. „Din mătase și diamante” nu este o lectură ușoară, dar este una intensă, plină de tensiune și emoții.
Povestea o urmărește pe Jo Hernandez, prinsă în mijlocul unei lumi întunecate, unde femeile devin monedă de schimb și unde dragostea pare imposibilă. Jo este o eroină fragilă, dar hotărâtă, iar lupta ei de supraviețuire m-a făcut să simt fiecare frică și fiecare speranță.
De partea cealaltă, Dante, bărbatul ei, este prins într-o plasă de datorii și alegeri greșite. Relația lor este pusă la încercare de forțe mult mai mari decât ei, iar modul în care greșelile trecutului revin îi dă poveștii o încărcătură dramatică. Între ei, apar și alte personaje complicate, precum frații Belushi, mafioți cu o cruzime rece, dar și Maria, o femeie care încearcă să aducă puțină umanitate în acel infern.
Un alt personaj care mi-a atras atenția este Sylvain Auclair, agent Interpol, ascuns sub identitatea de Silver Diggs. Mi-a plăcut ambivalența lui – este rece și calculat când misiunea o cere, dar în același timp are un nucleu de umanitate și dorința de a salva vieți. Între Sylvain și Jo planează o tensiune subtilă, care face povestea și mai captivantă.
Atmosfera cărții este întunecată, apăsătoare, plină de scene dure, dar scriitura Ralucăi Iacob are un ritm care te face să mergi mai departe, chiar și atunci când totul pare fără ieșire. Este o carte care te face să reflectezi asupra alegerilor, a sacrificiilor și a prețului plătit pentru libertate.
Dacă ar fi să spun ce mi-a lipsit pentru a fi o lectură de cinci stele, ar fi poate mai mult spațiu pentru a respira între scenele tensionate și mai multă profunzime în relațiile dintre personaje. Intensitatea este foarte bine construită, dar uneori am simțit că am nevoie de un moment de liniște, de o scenă mai caldă.
În concluzie, îi ofer 4 stele. „Din mătase și diamante” este un thriller romantic puternic, cu personaje care rămân cu tine și cu o acțiune care nu-ți dă voie să lași cartea din mână. O recomand celor care caută o poveste plină de suspans, emoții și umbre ale lumii în care trăim.
Of Silk and Diamonds – Raluca Iacob (Burnt Sins, #2)
I read the second volume of the „Burnt Sins” series with bated breath, and I can say that Raluca Iacob knows how to hook you from the very first pages. „Of Silk and Diamonds” is not an easy read, but it’s an intense one, filled with tension and emotion.
The story follows Jo Hernandez, caught in the middle of a dark world where women become bargaining chips and where love seems impossible. Jo is a fragile yet determined heroine, and her struggle for survival made me feel every fear and every hope.
On the other side, Dante, her man, is trapped in a web of debts and poor choices. Their relationship is tested by forces much greater than themselves, and the way past mistakes resurface gives the story a strong dramatic weight. Alongside them, other complex characters appear, such as the Belushi brothers, cold-blooded mobsters, and Maria, a woman who tries to bring a little humanity into that inferno.
Another character that caught my attention is Sylvain Auclair, an Interpol agent hidden under the identity of Silver Diggs. I liked his ambivalence—he is cold and calculating when the mission requires it, but at the same time, he has a core of humanity and a genuine desire to save lives. Between Sylvain and Jo there lingers a subtle tension that makes the story even more gripping.
The book’s atmosphere is dark, heavy, and filled with harsh scenes, but Raluca Iacob’s writing has a rhythm that keeps you going, even when everything seems hopeless. It’s a book that makes you reflect on choices, sacrifices, and the price paid for freedom.
If I were to say what kept it from being a five-star read for me, it would be perhaps the lack of breathing space between the tense scenes and more depth in the relationships between the characters. The intensity is well built, but at times I felt I needed a quiet moment, a warmer scene.
In conclusion, I give it 4 stars. „Of Silk and Diamonds” is a powerful romantic thriller, with characters that stay with you and a plot that doesn’t allow you to put the book down. I recommend it to anyone looking for a story full of suspense, emotions, and the shadows of the world we live in.
