„Oglinda sufletului” de Alexandra Petrescu este o poveste intensă și tulburătoare despre identitate, adevăruri ascunse și greutatea moștenirilor de familie. Mi-a plăcut atmosfera misterioasă și tensiunea emoțională care se simte de la primele pagini, chiar dacă pe alocuri firul narativ mi s-a părut prea încărcat cu dramă și introspecții.
Personajul principal, Eliza, este o tânără aflată într-un moment de răscruce. Moartea mamei sale, Ioana Avramescu, o actriță celebră, dar învăluită în mister, îi dă lumea peste cap. Deși visase să calce pe urmele mamei și să devină actriță, Eliza renunță la acest vis pentru a avea grijă de tatăl ei bolnav de cancer. Acceptă un job de bonă la familia Adam, un loc care se dovedește a fi începutul unei alte căutări – nu doar a adevărului despre trecut, ci și a propriei identități.
Acolo îl cunoaște pe Alex, un tânăr carismatic, dar greu de citit, care oscilează între aroganță și vulnerabilitate. Relația lor este tensionată, plină de atracție, dar și de suspiciune. Pe măsură ce Eliza se apropie de el, se trezește prinsă într-un triunghi amoros complicat și dureros, care o face să se îndoiască de propriile alegeri.
Ceea ce m-a impresionat este modul în care Eliza ajunge să repete, fără să vrea, greșelile mamei sale. Se luptă cu întrebări legate de iubire, încredere și adevăr, dar și cu demonii interiori pe care Ioana i-a ascuns în spatele aparențelor de femeie puternică. Această oglindă între trecut și prezent este construită cu grijă și oferă profunzime poveștii.
Autoarea reușește să creeze o atmosferă apăsătoare, aproape cinematografică, în care fiecare personaj are ceva de ascuns. Pe lângă Eliza și Alex, apar și alte figuri interesante – familia Adam, care pare să știe mai multe decât lasă să se vadă, dar și umbrele trecutului Ioanei, care continuă să bântuie fiecare pas făcut de fiica ei.
Mi-aș fi dorit, totuși, ca unele pasaje să fie mai aerisite, mai puțin încărcate de descrieri interioare. Tensiunea este bine construită, dar în unele locuri ritmul încetinește și am simțit nevoia de mai multă acțiune sau dialog.
„Oglinda sufletului” este o carte despre curajul de a deschide uși închise de mult, despre alegeri grele și despre cum trecutul ne poate influența, chiar și atunci când încercăm să fugim de el. Este o lectură emoționantă, cu o notă de suspans și multă introspecție.
O recomand celor care iubesc poveștile de familie cu secrete, dramă psihologică și un strop de romantism intens.

„The Mirror of the Soul” by Alexandra Petrescu is an intense and unsettling story about identity, hidden truths, and the weight of family legacies. I enjoyed the mysterious atmosphere and emotional tension that builds from the very first pages, even though at times the narrative felt a bit too heavy with drama and introspection.
The main character, Eliza, is a young woman at a turning point in her life. The death of her mother, Ioana Avramescu—a famous actress shrouded in mystery—throws her world into chaos. Although she once dreamed of following in her mother’s footsteps and becoming an actress, Eliza gives up that dream to care for her father, who is battling cancer. She accepts a job as a nanny for the Adam family, a place that turns out to be the beginning of another kind of journey—not just in search of the truth about the past, but also of her own identity.
There she meets Alex, a charismatic yet hard-to-read young man who swings between arrogance and vulnerability. Their relationship is tense, filled with attraction but also suspicion. As Eliza grows closer to him, she finds herself caught in a complicated and painful love triangle that makes her question her own choices.
What struck me the most is the way Eliza, unknowingly, begins to repeat the mistakes of her mother. She struggles with questions about love, trust, and truth, as well as with the inner demons that Ioana hid behind the façade of a strong woman. This mirror between past and present is carefully built and adds depth to the story.
The author manages to create a heavy, almost cinematic atmosphere, where every character has something to hide. Beyond Eliza and Alex, other intriguing figures emerge—the Adam family, who seem to know more than they let on, as well as the shadows of Ioana’s past, which continue to haunt her daughter’s every step.
Still, I would have preferred some passages to be lighter and less filled with internal monologue. The tension is well-crafted, but in some places the pace slows down, and I longed for more action or dialogue.
„The Mirror of the Soul” is a story about the courage to open doors that have long been closed, about hard choices, and about how the past can shape us—even when we try to run from it. It’s an emotional read, with a touch of suspense and a lot of introspection.
I recommend it to those who enjoy family stories filled with secrets, psychological drama, and a hint of intense romance.
