„Blestemul oaselor” de Alexandra Bracken este o aventură magică, întunecată și emoționantă, care m-a prins rapid în mrejele ei. Am simțit de la început că e genul de carte cu atmosferă densă, cu pericole la fiecare pas și cu o eroină puternică, dar rănită în adâncul sufletului.
Povestea o urmărește pe Tamsin Lark, o tânără Recuperatoare, adică o vânătoare de comori magice, care caută cu disperare o cale de a-l salva pe fratele ei vitreg, Cabell, de un blestem vechi și crud. Încă de când erau mici, cei doi au fost abandonați în grija unui bărbat numit Nash, un fel de tată adoptiv, dar care mai degrabă i-a folosit decât i-a protejat. Nu le-a oferit o viață normală, nici măcar identități legale, ci i-a crescut în lumea ascunsă a magiei, blestemelor și trădărilor.
Tamsin e un personaj care m-a impresionat – e dură, inteligentă și nu se teme să înfrunte pericolul, dar în același timp suferă în tăcere. Are o relație complicată cu fratele ei, care acum pare că se îndepărtează, pe măsură ce blestemul îl transformă. Și când apare șansa de a-l salva, chiar dacă presupune să pornească într-o misiune aproape imposibilă, nu ezită.
Pe parcursul poveștii, Tamsin intră într-o cursă nebună alături de alți Recuperatori și vrăjitoare, prin cripte sigilate, pe tărâmuri străvechi, până în Avalon – un loc sacru și periculos. Mi-a plăcut mult combinația de mitologie, magie întunecată și mister, iar atmosfera mi-a amintit de cărțile gotice, pline de secrete și umbre.
Relațiile dintre personaje sunt tensionate, iar în aer plutește mereu ideea de trădare, dar și de loialitate. Magia e frumos construită – nu e ceva luminos sau blând, ci sălbatică, periculoasă, adesea legată de suferință și sânge.
Mi-a plăcut intensitatea poveștii și stilul scriiturii – e direct, uneori poetic, alteori dur. Cu toate astea, în unele locuri acțiunea a fost ușor prea încărcată, iar explicațiile despre magie și sistemul Recuperatorilor puteau fi mai clare. De aceea nu i-am dat cinci stele, dar este cu siguranță o carte care m-a ținut în priză până la final.
„Blestemul oaselor” este o combinație reușită între aventură, magie întunecată, relații complicate și alegeri imposibile. E o poveste despre familie, despre sacrificii și despre cât de departe suntem dispuși să mergem pentru a-i salva pe cei pe care îi iubim.
O recomand cu drag fanilor de fantasy care vor ceva intens, cu miză mare și personaje complexe.

„Silver in the Bone” by Alexandra Bracken is a magical, dark, and emotional adventure that quickly pulled me into its spell. Right from the start, I could feel it was the kind of story with a dense atmosphere, danger lurking at every turn, and a strong heroine who’s deeply wounded inside.
The story follows Tamsin Lark, a young Hollower – a kind of magical treasure hunter – who is desperately searching for a way to save her half-brother, Cabell, from an ancient and cruel curse. Since childhood, the two were abandoned in the care of a man named Nash, a sort of adoptive father who used them more than he protected them. He didn’t give them a normal life, not even legal identities, but raised them in a hidden world of magic, curses, and betrayal.
Tamsin is a character who really impressed me – she’s tough, smart, and unafraid to face danger, yet silently suffering at the same time. Her relationship with her brother is complicated, especially now that the curse seems to be changing him and driving him away. And when a chance to save him appears – even if it means embarking on an almost impossible quest – she doesn’t hesitate.
Throughout the story, Tamsin enters a wild race alongside other Hollowers and witches, venturing through sealed crypts, ancient lands, and all the way to Avalon – a sacred and dangerous place. I really enjoyed the mix of mythology, dark magic, and mystery, and the overall vibe reminded me of gothic novels full of secrets and shadows.
The relationships between the characters are tense, and there’s always a sense of betrayal hanging in the air – but also loyalty. The magic system is beautifully crafted – it’s not something bright or gentle, but wild, dangerous, and often tied to suffering and blood.
I loved the intensity of the story and the writing style – it’s direct, sometimes poetic, other times harsh. That said, in a few places the action felt a bit too packed, and the explanations about the magic and the Hollower system could’ve been clearer. That’s why I didn’t give it five stars, but it definitely kept me hooked until the very end.
„Silver in the Bone” is a successful mix of adventure, dark magic, complicated relationships, and impossible choices. It’s a story about family, sacrifice, and how far we’re willing to go to save the ones we love.
I warmly recommend it to fantasy fans looking for something intense, high-stakes, and filled with complex characters.
