„Foxglove” continuă povestea gotică și captivantă începută în „Beladona”, aducând și mai multă tensiune, mister și jocuri periculoase cu Destinul. Signa nu mai este doar o tânără care încearcă să-și găsească locul între viață și moarte, ci devine un pion într-o luptă cu mize mult mai mari, unde iubirea și pericolul se împletesc la fiecare pas.
Totul începe cu o crimă – un duce este ucis, iar vina cade pe lordul de la Thorn Grove, Elijah Hawthorne. Signa știe că acesta este nevinovat, dar ca să-l salveze, trebuie să se joace cu forțe pe care abia începe să le înțeleagă. Împreună cu verișoara ei, Blythe, pune la cale un plan riscant: să-l îmbuneze pe Destin, enigmaticul frate al Îngerului Morții, în speranța că îl vor convinge să intervină. Însă Destinul nu este un aliat de încredere. Trădat de Îngerul Morții cu ani în urmă, este decis să se răzbune și să o aibă pe Signa doar pentru el, indiferent de preț.
Mi-a plăcut foarte mult dinamica dintre Signa și Destin. Spre deosebire de Îngerul Morții, care a avut mereu o conexiune profundă și aproape tandră cu ea, Destinul este jucăuș, imprevizibil și periculos. Nu știi niciodată dacă îți întinde o mână de ajutor sau dacă te împinge spre ruină. Prezența lui adaugă o tensiune constantă poveștii, mai ales că Signa începe să descopere noi puteri, iar controlul îi scapă printre degete.
Un alt aspect care mi-a plăcut este evoluția lui Blythe. Dacă în primul volum a fost mai mult un personaj secundar, aici devine o forță de luat în seamă. Inteligentă, ambițioasă și mai puțin dispusă să urmeze regulile impuse de societate, Blythe demonstrează că este capabilă să lupte pentru ceea ce își dorește. Relația dintre ea și Signa este complicată, iar încrederea dintre ele este pusă la încercare de secrete și jocurile perfide ale Destinului.
Intriga cărții este plină de mistere, crime nerezolvate și alianțe fragile. Pe măsură ce Signa și Blythe se adâncesc în lumea înaltei societăți, pericolele devin din ce în ce mai mari, iar întrebarea care planează asupra întregii povești este: cât de departe sunt dispuse să meargă pentru adevăr? Finalul este plin de suspans și promite că urmează și mai multe răsturnări de situație.
Singurul lucru care m-a făcut să nu ofer cinci stele este faptul că unele momente se desfășoară mai lent, iar anumite aspecte ale intrigii devin puțin repetitive. Deși povestea păstrează farmecul gotic și romantismul întunecat, am simțit că pe alocuri se putea ajunge mai repede la momentele de maxim impact.
Chiar și așa, „Foxglove” este o continuare reușită, periculoasă, seducătoare și plină de mister. Adalyn Grace știe cum să țină cititorii captivi într-o lume unde iubirea și moartea dansează împreună, iar fiecare alegere poate avea consecințe fatale. Abia aștept să văd cum se va încheia povestea Signei!

„Foxglove” continues the gothic and captivating story that began in „Belladonna”, bringing even more tension, mystery, and dangerous games with Fate. Signa is no longer just a young woman trying to find her place between life and death—she becomes a pawn in a battle with much higher stakes, where love and danger intertwine at every step.
It all begins with a murder—a duke is killed, and the blame falls on the lord of Thorn Grove, Elijah Hawthorne. Signa knows he is innocent, but to save him, she must play with forces she is only beginning to understand. Together with her cousin, Blythe, she devises a risky plan: to appease Fate, the enigmatic brother of the Angel of Death, hoping to convince him to intervene. But Fate is not a reliable ally. Betrayed by the Angel of Death years ago, he is determined to take his revenge and claim Signa for himself—no matter the cost.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between Signa and Fate. Unlike the Angel of Death, who has always had a deep and almost tender connection with her, Fate is playful, unpredictable, and dangerous. You never know if he is extending a helping hand or pushing you toward ruin. His presence adds constant tension to the story, especially as Signa begins to discover new powers, and control slips through her fingers.
Another aspect I liked is Blythe’s development. While she played more of a secondary role in the first book, here she becomes a force to be reckoned with. Intelligent, ambitious, and less willing to follow society’s rules, Blythe proves she is capable of fighting for what she wants. Her relationship with Signa is complicated, and their trust is tested by secrets and Fate’s devious games.
The plot is filled with mysteries, unsolved murders, and fragile alliances. As Signa and Blythe delve deeper into high society, the dangers grow more intense, and the question looming over the story is: how far are they willing to go for the truth? The ending is suspenseful and promises even more twists to come.
The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is that some moments unfold more slowly, and certain aspects of the plot feel a bit repetitive. While the story maintains its gothic charm and dark romance, at times, I felt that it could have reached its high-impact moments more quickly.
Even so, „Foxglove” is a successful, dangerous, seductive, and mystery-filled sequel. Adalyn Grace knows how to keep readers enthralled in a world where love and death dance together, and every choice can have fatal consequences. I can’t wait to see how Signa’s story will end!
